I remember the day when I first realized,
“Life is not about me“.
Can you think of a time in your life when you made a decision to begin living a life full of purpose?
I began discovering my purpose in life at the age of twelve.
Would you allow me to share my testimony of how I began to discover my purpose in life?
My hopes it that it will help you live a life that matters and reach your full potential.
How I began my relationship with Christ
My testimony is one of God’s goodness. I was born in Florence, Alabama on October 8, 1962.. Here’s a photo of me as a baby:
Before I met Christ
I started attending Church at a very young age and enjoyed it because I liked the Bible Stories.
I thought I was a Christian because I wasn’t a bad person and never hurt anyone. I especially thought I was doing everything right because I attended Church services every week and even prayed and read my Bible every once in awhile.
How I met Christ
At the age of 12 one of the elders in the church asked me,
“If you were to die today, would you go to Heaven?”
“Yes, I think so”, I replied.
He proceeded to ask me,
“Why? Why should God let you go to heaven?”
The man gently told me, “That’s nice, but it’s not enough”.
You must believe Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead. You must make Christ Lord and Savior by asking Him for forgiveness of your sins and by repenting of your old ways; That means a complete turn around. Then begin your new life by loving God, loving others and telling them about Him. Then you can began to experience God’s purpose for your life and have eternal life in heaven.
In the church I was attending to become a Christian you must be baptized in water. I’m happy for that foundation.
That day, I decided to be baptized, I asked Jesus to come into my heart and control my life.
What my life is like now
My life has never been the same. He’s been my best friend, and a help in time of need. Life has not always been perfect, but when I do have problems, my best friend, Jesus, is always there to help me out.
I love Jesus with all my heart.
I am fortunate to not have a testimony of doing a lot of bad things before I became a Christian.
I vividly remember the day I felt called to the ministry.
When I was a teenager, I was in the bathroom and I distinctly remember God impressing on to be a minister.
It wasn’t an audible voice, but it was a clear life purpose.
I thought it meant that I would be a pastor of a church but very soon afterwards it became evident that I was more evangelistic because I enjoyed sharing what God had done for me with others who didn’t have the same life of purpose.
As soon as I finished High School I began attending Bible College and preparing for the ministry. The theology classes were great but while everyone else was in class I began sharing about Christ in the malls, on the streets, in the jails and even in pubs.
I discovered that my mission, my purpose, was and is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone I can.
That’s why I wrote this article.
How about you? Do you want to share Christ with the World?
