One of my duties here at work is to be a Benefits Plan Representative for our company. We have all kinds of wonderful benefits that are here for us – Health Insurance, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short term and Long term disability Insurance, Stock purchase options, 401K and other retirement plans. All of these things will only be of a benefit to those that choose to take advantage of them. God Himself has a benefit package for His children. Just like the benefit package that employers offer, we need to choose to take advantage of what He is offering us for God’s Benefit Package to be of benefit to us. Some of the benefits are listed in
Psalm 103. Let’s go over those listed here:
Psalm 103:
V. 1-He forgives all our sins.
V. 2-He heals all our diseases.
V. 3-He redeems our lives from destruction.
V. 4-He crowns us with loving-kindness and tender mercies.
V. 5-He satisfies our mouths with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
V. 6-He executes righteousness and judgment for us against oppression. He sets us free.
V. 7-He makes known His ways to us.
V. 8-He gives us His grace and mercy in times of need.
V.10 & 11–He hasn’t dealt with us according to our sins but as high as the heaven is above the earth, that’s how great His mercy is toward those that fear Him.
V. 12- As far as the east is from the west, that ‘s how far He has removed our transgressions from us.
V.13 & 14- As a father takes pity on his children, so the Lord does to those that love Him. For he knows and remembers that we are just made of dust.
V.17-18- But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting and His righteousness extends even unto our children’s children, to those that keep His covenant and remembers to do His commandments.
V. 19-The Lord has prepared His throne in heaven and His kingdom rules over all (We are part of His kingdom).
V. 20- His angels, mighty in strength, do His commandments, listening to the voice of His word. “He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, so that you don’t even dash your foot against a stone.” Ps. 91:11-12 Also,
Ps. 34:7. says “ The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, who revere and worship Him with awe, and each one of them He delivers.” This is no small thing. Having an angel protect us is a great blessing and benefit.
There are so many benefits in God’s Benefit package that I could literally write chapters on them. Here are but just a few of the many items in God’s Benefit Package:
- He cares about us and wants to exalt us if we will humble ourselves under His mighty hand.I Pet.5:6&7: ‘Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
- He gives us good things to think about. Phil.4:8With Him we can do all things. Phil.4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
- He supplies all of our needs. Phil.4:19 “But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
How did God say that our needs would be supplied? Through Christ Jesus. Jesus said in John 14: 13&14 “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father…” (More on asking and receiving, faith and believing at a later time. God is giving me a whole chapter to write on this subject.)
Luke 6:38 “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete (or give), it shall be measured to you again.”All things are possible with God. Matt. 19:26 ” with men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”
In Deuteronomy 28, the whole chapter is about what God will do if we “harken diligently unto the voice of the Lord God to observe and do His commandments”.
v. 1 God will set ups high above all the nations of the earth.
v. 2 All these blessings will actually chase us down and overtake us!
v. 3 We will be blessed wherever we go- in the city or in the country.
v. 4 Our children, our bodies and all that we have that is alive will be blessed.
v. 5 We will have plenty of food.
v. 6 Blessed we will be when we come in and when we go out.
v. 7 The Lord will cause our enemies (anyone that is against us) to be defeated before our face; they will come out against us one way and flee before us seven ways. If you are living for the Lord, there will be those that are against you.
v. 8 The Lord will actually command His blessings upon us in our storage places (such as bank accounts, savings accounts, etc.) and in all (not some but all) that we undertake.
v. 9 God will establish us as a Holy people-set apart to Himself! (Can you imagine this? I’m excited!)
v. 10 All people that know us will see that we are called by the name and in the presence of the Lord and will be afraid to mess with us! (In our evil world system today, this is a big deal.)
v. 11 Not only will we have prosperity but this verse says that we will have a surplus of prosperity.
v. 12 The Lord not only will open to us His treasury, but this verse says He will give us His good
treasury! We will have rain when we need it, and all the work of our hands will be blessed! We will lend and not borrow! Read that one again-lend and not borrow!
v. 13 We will be the head and not the tail; we will be above only and not beneath, if we heed the Lord’s commandments.
Are you excited yet? We can enjoy these benefits everyday starting right now! Regardless of what the world’s economy looks like, God has His own economic package. Wow! I understand His retirement plan is out of this world, too!
In His Service,
Robbie Goodwin
