Steve Saint, Son of Nate Saint, Has Developed a Flying Car! [Video]

A Flying Car

Steve Saint has now developed a FLYING CAR! It is a marvel of engineering. Steve was motivated to build this flying car by his love for the Auca and other tribal people and his desire to serve them in remote areas of the world.

Missionaries Nate Saint and Jim Elliot

Nate Saint and his friend and missions colleague Jim Elliot,  were among the four missionaries killed by the Auca Indians in the jungles of Ecuador in January, 1956. The story about their lives and untimely deaths has gone around the world. Most recently the story was told in the video documentary “Beyond the Gates of Splendor.” It is a powerful story.

Steve Saint is Nate Saint’s son.

Globe International

I’m a member of  the Missions organization called Globe International.

Doug Gehman, President and Director of Globe International said that this Flying Car report is special to him for two reasons…

First, one member of the Saint family are Globe missionaries! Humberto and Evelyn Jimenez-Saint serve as a part of the Globe Team, in Argentina. Nate Saint was Evelyn’s uncle, so Steve and Evelyn are cousins. I am honored to have a member of this famous missionary family be associated with Globe, so I have special appreciation for another contribution that they, through Steve, are making to the world.

Second, I’m a Private Pilot. I’m also a former member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). This new car/aircraft is truly amazing.

This is the real deal. I want one!

25 Tips For Christmas Gift Giving

bonus Christmas giving tip

Looking for Christmas gift giving advice?

I’m about to share with you how to beat stress this Holiday season by giving gifts with wisdom and joy….

25 Tips For Christmas Gift Giving

“It’s the thought that counts”, so here are some helpful thoughts when it comes to gift giving ..

Use Wisdom in Christmas Gift Giving

1. Ask God to give you wisdom as to what to purchase, who to purchase for and how to buy items.

2. Keep in mind how it makes you feel when you receive something you don’t really want or need.

3. Agree as a family to not go overboard in gift giving… Maybe just buy gifts for the children or draw names.

Give Gifts Based On What You Have Available

4. If you have money, share with others by buying items they want or need.

bonus Christmas giving tip

Bonus Christmas giving tip: The Presentation makes a difference.. Don't forget the gift wrapping.

5. If you are lacking in funds, don’t go into debt as a result of your gift giving activities.

6. You don’t have to spend money to give a gift. Your time, efforts, skills, and thoughts are often much more valuable than material gifts.

7. Make it a rule to NOT use a credit card to pay for gifts, this will add up to a large debt very quickly.

Give Gifts With Good Motivations

8. Give gifts because you love and care about someone.

9. Don’t give just to get something in return.

10. Don’t give because you feel “obligated” because someone gave you a gift.

Can’t Think of What Gift to Give?

11. Ask yourself, “What does the person “need”?

12. Give based on the person’s passion, interests or hobby.

13. Don’t be tempted by gag gifts or cheap, unimportant gifts, instead give gifts that mean something and improve peoples life

14. Give based on quality, not cost.

15. Keep your gift giving simple but not generic. Say no to socks, ties and soap on a rope.

Jesus is the reason for the season

16. Try not to become stressed out with holiday gift giving.

17. Remember, Jesus has already given the ultimate gift.. His life! This is a time of joy… not worry.

18. Here’s the Bible’s #1 tip about gift giving …

don't forget the poor

In Acts 20:35 Paul said ..

we ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

The Bible is full of verses that instruct us to give to the poor..

Prov 19:17

We know we should give but, often times, we don’t know how to give or who to give to. Here are some tips along with questions to ask before you consider giving to a charity or ministry…

How To Donate To The Poor

19. Give with passion. Are you passionate about the ministry?

20. Give based on relationship. Do you know anything about the person or charity?

21. Give to charities who demonstrate integrity. Does the ministry posses character, honesty and humility?

22. Be a good steward by giving responsibly. Did you check out the organization to find out how they will spend you donations?

23. Ask for a follow-up report. Who was helped, blessed or ministered to? What testimonies can be shared?

24. Get tax benefits by taking advantage of tax deductible donations. Will the ministry offer a tax deductible receipt for your gift?

25. Here’s My Last Tip…

Give To Our 2011 Christmas Outreach

The Chrsitmas gift  gving season is our favorite time of the year. Each year at this time we give to the poor. 2 years ago we gave out 2500 pairs of shoes. This year we will be giving a special gift package which includes a toy, sanitary items, school supplies and candy to the very poorest children we have found in the Indian communities.Christmas Gifts

Our goal is to provide a Christmas that the children will remember for years to come by providing hope and joy.

Click on the image of the little girl to see more photos of the Christmas gift giving projects

These are children who don’t expect to receive anything for Christmas because their parents can’t afford Christmas presents.

One of these places is located in San Juan Chamula where an entire Catholic church, including the Priest gave their lives to the lord.
When we give these gifts we teach the children about the true meaning of Christmas which can only be found in Jesus Christ..

I wrote the above tips and requirements because that is my criteria for our ministry here in Mexico.

Now that you know how to give gifts you need an opportunity to give. I want to provide you with that opportunity now by asking you to give to our ministry using using the donate button or via our missions giving page.

We appreciate your special year end tax deductible donation in any amount.

25 Tips for Christmas Gift Giving (69)

May your Christmas gift giving be filled with wisdom and joy!

El Guapo, El Gordo and The Buzzard

It's not my fault God Loves me so much

I’d like to highlight 3 men whose lives were changed as a result of our church planting ministry here in Mexico…..

El Guapo

Here in Mexico people will tell you, “if you want to be popular among the women, learn to play a musical instrument”

It's not my fault God Loves me so much

Can you pick out "el guapo" in this photo?

In Trintario, Ramiro, the man they call “el guapo” (the handsome man) shamelessly described himself as God’s gift to women. In fact the he had his own quote:

“Que Culpa tengo yo que Dios me quiera tanto”

(It not my fault God loves me so much)

However his good looks got him into trouble…

One day, after getting beat up by a few  men who were fed up with his Casanova attitude, he decided it was time to accept God’s gift to men and women alike… He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and now has opened his home up for services in this new church plant.

El Gordo

El Gordo means fat man. However Cerilo was not only fat, but he was mean. So mean that he would host cock fights for all the Narcs in his hotel in Benemerito de las Americas.

After spending time in Jail as a result of his pure meanness el Gordo surrendered his life to Jesus.

He is now a “gentle” man. In fact, he’s so nice that on October 8th, my birthday and the 1 year Anniversary of  our new Church in Benemerito , he provided lodging for me and 20 other Christians. He then donated a large bull and we ate steak for 3 days  straight. I gained 3 pounds and discovered a new meaning to the word “fat”, as I left “very blessed”!

A Buzzard Caught His Attention….

Carlos and family and friends

Carlos and family and friends... The child in the middle is actually a boy in original Mayan clothing

The Mayan Indians are very conscientious of nature.

One day, Carlos and his family were driving into Benemerito which is located about an hour from where they live in the Candona Jungle.

Carlos noticed a buzzard flying overhead. The buzzard came closer and closer to his vehicle. Just when he thought the buzzard was about to hit his car the big bird vomited all over his windshield.

buzzard vomit

Yes, God can even use buzzard vomit

“What a stinch”.

In fact, it smelt so bad that nobody wanted to help him clean his car. That’s when Carlos and his family visited a mechanic who just happened to be a member in our new church plant.

The mechanic not only helped him clean up the mess  on his car but he shared Jesus with this Mayan Indian and helped him clean up his life. This Mayan family has now opened up their home for services in the jungle.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support.

May God richly bless you and your family.

God’s Word of Encouragement For 2011

Encouraging Words fromThe Nemer Family

Every year I seek God’s direction for a plan and a direction for the New Year. I’m about to share with you what God has been speaking to me. Even though we still lack a few months till 2011.

Once you finish reading this message please take the time to tell me what you think in the comment section below this article. You can also download this message in PDF format using the form below this article.

“How To Find Blessing In An Economic Recession”

Here in Mexico we have 2 distinct seasons… a dry season and a rainy season. I don’t enjoy the dry season… it’s hot, dusty and desolate.

I realize that many of you may be passing through difficult times…. dry seasons when God seems to be distant.

Encouraging Words fromThe Nemer Family

Encouraging Words from The Nemer Family

Many friends are stressed out, worried, and full of despair. The United States has a very LARGE National debt and hope seems to be hard to find. The economy seems to be bleak and jobs are scarce for some.

Encouraging Words For 2011

God has given me a word for you. I know these words will encourage you.

Change is coming.  Stay focused. Change is very hard to accomplish when it’s done by our own desires.  God is the one who brings the rainy season. It’s easy when God does it.

Here’s how God can bless you, even when times are tough…

Ask For Wisdom

Put God first

Asking God For Wisdom

James 1:5-8 says , “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

You can read more on Obtaining Godly Wisdom at my Real Life Success Website.

We all have KNOWLEDGE directly from the Bible.

Wisdom is when you know how to apply that knowledge to your daily life.
Wisdom is a perquisite to blessings. Solomon could have asked for anything he wanted. He asked God for wisdom. God blessed everything he touched.

When you posses’ wisdom, it will help you take care of financial needs, ministry expansion and everything else you do in life.

Stop reading now and ask God For wisdom.

Make God’s Priorities Your Priorities

Put God First

Put God First

Put God 1st.  Make His purposes your purpose in life.

Mark 12:30-31
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

Are Your Priorities in Order?

  1. Put God First
  2. Family
  3. Others
  4. Ministry
  5. Business

Take care of God’s business and He’ll take care of your business.

Don’t let your personal business take priority over God’s business.

Matthew 6:33 says to “Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you”.

Where do you spend the majority of your time, thoughts, efforts and/or money?

Is it on your job or business?

Is it on personal pleasure?

Or is it on promoting God’s Kingdom?

Apply These Keys to Financial Blessing

I’ve spent most of this year ministering on financial freedom since God is definitely interested in our money as much as we are.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Live To Give

Live To Give

How To Give:

Give with the right motivations, because you love God, not just because you want to receive something.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Don’t give out of obligation or to manipulate his promises, God gives to you because he loves you, not because he feels obligated to bless you.

A few more keys to financial blessings:

  • Get rid of debt in our lives so we are no longer slaves to no one or no bank.
  • Live to give and give to live.
  • Be obedient to God when in all areas of giving- this includes tithing (10% is a good beginning), offerings, and first fruits.

Begin by being faithful in the poco (little) and he’ll bless you in the mucho (a lot)!

Be Humble and Honorable

Be Humble and Honorable

Be Humble and Honorable

Be Yourself, don’t try to imitate Others

Do what God created you to do. Don’t be distracted by others or tangible things that are pleasing to the eyes.

Whose Show is it?
Don’t be like those who create a show to receive honor from men.  Rather… let Christ show through you and your ministry
Be the show of Christ through trust in Him, and reap the harvest of the due season of His faithfulness.

Promote God’s Agenda, Not your Own
Be sincere and promote God’s Kingdom. Minister with integrity. Here in Chiapas, It is refreshing when someone comes who is promoting Gods Kingdom and not there own agenda.

Men are interested in Titles. The only name that’s really important is the name of Jesus.

What is Honor?
Honor can be either offered or received. When it is offered, it is usually a selfless act, else we classify it as flattery. When received, it is a dangerous temptation, for that is when we stand the risk of identifying ourselves with our ego. Honor is the recognition of selflessness.

Clothe yourself with honor-  Honor goes hand in hand with integrity.

Realize There Is a “Dry Season” Before Most Major Blessings

Having done everything... stand

Having done everything... "stand"

The Time of Silence is Ending

“There is a “Time Of Silence” before any major Blessing.”
That’s what A prosperous Indian Pastor who has a large Church told me when I asked him about success in his life and ministry.

Call it what you want…
I don’t know if I could call it a time of silence…but it does always seem there is a time of slowness where you’re “waiting” on God…
The words, trials, tribulations, and even sowing could also apply to this principle.

A Season For Planting

It seems to relate to the fact that there is always a season for planting where it seems like you’re doing a lot of work…and nothing happens.  And then all of a sudden all your blessings happen at once.

They come in waves for any new breakthrough it seems.

You can find many examples in the Bible (such as Jesus in the desert just before his first major miracle)
Its a period of time when you’ve done everything that  you know is possible in the natural

Having Done Everything… “Stand”

Chapters 5 and 6 of Ephesians talks about when you’ve done everything you KNOW to do,  stand….

Ephesisan 6:14

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Definition : ” Stand”  is to go on living the things in your normal everyday life. It’s Gods sovereign move on our behalf.

There’s also a wonderful poem called “Footprints in the sand “ that basically illustrates that God has not forgotten about us in these silent, difficult times.

Expansion

You’ve heard of building expansions. We often look for “expansion” verses in the Bible when we’re about to go into a Church building program.God wants to give you much more than a building…. He wants to expand your Territory.

I Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

God Wants to Expand Your Territories

God Wants to Expand Your Territories

An expanded ministry
The time is at the door for your ministry to expand in west and east directions so walk to it and threw it

Greater Anointing
God wants to give you a greater anointing in your ministry. It will usher in a level of walk that you haven’t seen in your ministry until today. An anointing that has been set in motion and comes with great authority and  responsibility.

An increased authority

Is your hair Gray?

God wants to give you gray hair.. Gray hair is a symbol of authority, prestige, honor and respect.
God is ready to move you in a level of ministry It’s a calling of authority. You will experience Gods honor in this calling, It’s a privilege that few men have seen.

New level of respect
It’s yours at hand,  it’s been set  in motion in the heavens and not yet revealed in the realm of visible things .
Stay focused in the next few months and see the goodness of God revealed in your ministry,
People will start seeing you for what you are in Christ.

Receive Multiplication and Blessing From God

Everything that You touch will prosper

Everything that You touch will prosper

God WANTS TO Bless You.

Repeat these words:

“Everything that I touch will prosper. There is an anointing in my life as a child of God. Everything I do or touch will multiply in my behalf. Even others around me will be blessed.”

Receive it by faith. Stand and see the power of His faithfulness and works in your behalf.

Compassion

Have you ever seen a movie or show in which you could rub an Aladdin’s lamp and ask the magic genie for three things?
I would never refer to God as a magic genie but years ago, in the middle of the night, God begin to speak to me (in a non-audible voice).

The Greatest of These is Love

The Greatest of These is Love

God impressed upon me to ask him for gifts.
What would you ask God for if he told you that he would give you 3 gifts? Here’s what I asked God for.

  1. I asked God For Wisdom- If in may lacks it, let him ask.
  2. Then I asked him to give me a gift of miracles to help the sick and needy.
  3. For the third petition I was going to ask God for an increased anointing to win the lost, but I slightly changed my request and asked him to give me compassion.

I knew that If I asked God to fill me with his love, many would experience healing, salvation and reconciliation through my ministry.

The Greatest of these is love (I Cor 13)

At that moment when I asked God for His compassion for others I began weeping and experienced one of the most powerful presences of God that I’ve ever known in my life.

Compassion should be at the top of our requests if we want to experience God’s blessing in our lives.

What Gifts would you ask God for?  Ask Him now.

Finally, let us love.

Ask God to give you His heart. Loving like God loves cultivates blessings.

Start Your Journey To Success

The last 2 months of this year will be a prelude to all of 2011
What are you asking God to do through you in 2011?
Don’t wait for the New Year to begin.

The time is at hand. It’s about to rain. My desire for you is that you start experiencing God’s promises today.

Witness – the children called the altar Ed

“… the children … called the altar Ed…”Joshua 22:34 (KJV)

victory in JesusEmerging from forty years of wilderness wandering Moses last recorded effort was to persuade the Israelites to follow Joshua into the land of Promise.

His speech, recounting their history and God’s promises are recorded in Deuteronomy and conclude in chapter 34. At that point, Moses left their presence and went to be with Lord. The people of Israel lingered in Moab and wept for Moses for forty days, after which the invasion of the Land began.

Joshua records the dramatic events that opened up the Land and resulted in its occupation by Israel.

The River Jordan was at flood stage (Jos. 3:15) when it came time to cross, but the moment the Priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the water the River “stood and rose up upon an heap.” (3:16) Apparently, the waters were so completely stopped that the Dead Sea dried up! (3:16) The Priests stood in the dry river bed until two monuments were built! One on the banks of the Jordan and the other in the River Bed!

There was a rededication of the people and the initiating of those who had been born in the wilderness and had not received the physical mark of the Covenant in their flesh. (Chapter 5) In the same chapter, as if to confirm the Favor of Heaven on their efforts, Joshua came face to face with The Captain of the Lord’s Host.

Obeying this Heavenly visitor’s instructions, Joshua led the people to march around Jericho and they witnessed the collapse of its Walls.

What an incredible Victory that was.

It still stirs Faith in the believer and inspires the disciple to trust God against overwhelming odds.

The book of Joshua is full of powerful Life Lessons. Among those lessons is the story of two and a half tribes that chose to receive their inheritance on the East side of Jordan and not enter Canaan proper. Ruben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh had reached an understanding with Moses that would allow them to settle outside the Land. They had approached Moses in Numbers 32 and presented their proposal.

  • Moses first response was, “Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?” (32:6) That is still a relevant question for believing people! Many are content to sit in the bleachers while others engage the opposition!
  • Ruben, Gad and half of Manasseh understood the necessity of Unity among the People of God  replying to Moses, “… we …will go ready armed… until …Israel have inherited every man his inheritance…” (32:17-18)

They were true to their word. The story unfolds with many battles. There were victories and defeats but we read of no failure on the part of Ruben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh to keep their pledge. They had secured their own families in fenced cities and marched off with the other tribes to win security for their brethren.

This is a Great Lesson in loyalty and commitment. After the Land is secured and the other tribes have their inheritance, Ruben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh return home. They have been somewhat maligned as  “Border Line Believers” but that seems an unfair assessment and an erroneous characterization in view of what they went through to help their fellow Israelites and drive the Canaanites out of the Land of Promise. The other tribes became suspicious of their Altar thinking their intention was to set up a competing system with the Tabernacle!

  • Israel heard a rumor! (Jos. 22:10) They were ready to launch an attack on the very people who had stood along side them in battle, who risked everything to secure their future!
  • Israel misunderstood their motives! Being accused of rebelling against the Lord they answered, “God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD…” (22:29)
  • The altar was given a specific Name, Ed!

The word “Ed” means, “Witness.” (Strong’s 5707) The Bible is a book of Altars! There are 370 references to Altars in the Bible.

Altars with a “Sweet Savour” (Gen 8:21) unto the Lord, Altars where the “Lord Appeared” (Gen 12:7) where men sacrificed everything (Gen 22:9) where flesh was exposed (Exodus 20:26) pagan altars (Judges 6:25) desecrated, broken altars (I Kings 13:1, 23:15) misplaced (II Kings 16:14) abandoned (II Kings 23:9) polluted altars. (II Kings 23:16) Altars where the fire fell (I Kings 18:38) Altars to unknown gods (Acts 17:23).

It is of great importance that men ask themselves where they have surrendered all! People worship before altars of Fame, Fortune, Self, Convenience, Lust and myriad others! I want to be certain the altar before which I have sacrificed everything is “Ed!”

Yes, you read that right, “Ed,”   the WITNESS, to the Greatness of God, Witness to what He has accomplished, Witness of His Grace in sending His Son, Witness of His Holiness and Majesty.

God forbid that any of us would kneel before anything or anyone but, the Great, Eternal, Self Existent, Creator of all things and His Son Jesus of Nazareth! “(They)… called the altar Ed…”

Behold a Hole in The Wall

“…behold a hole in the wall.  Ezekiel 8:7″Ezekiel 8:7 - a hole in the wall

The Word of The Lord Came

In  March 597 B.C. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon captured the City of Jerusalem, installed a king of his own choosing and in course of time headed back to his own land with the Temple Treasures and approximately 10,000 Jewish captives including the deposed King Jehoiachin. (M. Coogan, The Oxford History of the Biblical World)

Ezekiel was among those captives five years into their exile when the “…word of the Lord came…” (1:3) Historians believe that was in the year 597 B.C. By that time, Nebuchadnezzar had survived several attempts to remove him from the throne as well as attempts of the vassal kings to throw off his rule. His contemporary Jeremiah had been allowed to stay in Jerusalem and continued his ministry there.

He warned the nation of the impending invasion and captivity only to be rebuke by other prophets and imprisoned by the King! Jeremiah had prophesied seventy years of captivity in Babylon. (Jer. 25:11) and at the instruction of the Lord he had made a yoke and worn it around his neck as a visual aid to his message.

Hananiah the prophet came into the Temple, and in the Name of the Lord prophesied the Captivity would end within two years and physically removed the Yoke from Jeremiah’s neck!(Jer. 28) He insisted the Captives and the Treasure would be returned in two years. A meeting of representatives from Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre and Sidon  took place in Jerusalem in 594 B.C.

Disbelief

The purpose of that meeting was to plan a joint military action against Nebuchadnezzar! (Coogan) Talk of rebellion was all over the Kingdom! It came to nothing. It is easy to understand, whether among the Captives or hundreds of miles away in the decimated yet beloved City of David that there would be total DISBELIEF of the situation! How could this have ever happened?

  • Rebellion, “…I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me…” (Ezekiel 2:3)
  • Impudence, “…they are impudent…” (Ezekiel 2:4)
  • Stubbornness, “…stiffhearted.” “Ezekiel 2:4) The NKJV translates this “Stubborn.”
  • Bloodshed, “…the land is full of bloody crimes” (7:23)
  • Ignorance of God’s Omniscience, “…they say, The LORD seeth us not” (8:12)
  • Perversity, “…the city full of perverseness” (9:9)

Consequences

This message was extremely difficult for the Prophet to deliver, because along with it came the terrible list of consequences!

Ezekiel wrote, “I came to them… by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.”

We modern day preachers are seldom so seriously affected by the Message Heaven has called us to deliver or by the plight of the Peopleamong whom we dwell! If we understood the awfulness of SIN perhaps, we could be more convincing when we talk about a Savior!

Judgement

If our own experiences with God were more intense, perhaps when we tell them God Knows and God will Judge and nothing is hidden from His view they would listen. Perhaps, when we insist the WALLthey have erected to hide their transgressions, the Wall of Arrogance, or Willfulness, or Selfishness isn’t going to keep Him out, they would sense the imminent danger and Repent!

Let the Message of the Church to every Sinner be, “behold a hole in the wall!”

Ezekiel foretold a Day of Judgment that would result in an economic crash! “…They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them…”(7:20) A day of Sacrilege “…they shall pollute my secret place…” (7:22) A day of a Silent Heaven “…they seek a vision of the prophet.” (7:26) A day of Lawlessness “…the law shall perish.” (7:26)

I don’t know if our generation is about to see something similar, I pray not. I do know that God is a Holy God and it is very possible to insult Him and grieve His Holy Spirit.  I also know it is impossible to hide from Him! He will see through the Wall! And I know something else!

Good News

There is some Good News! Before Judgment came on Ezekiel’s Generation an extraordinary thing happened. When the destroyingAngels were drawing near, God gave a command that a “mark” be put on the forehead of those who “sigh and that cry for all the abominations.” (9:4)

The word “mark” according to Strong’s is “by implication a signature.”(8420) God puts His own Signature on those who despise Sin! The Destroying Angels were told, “…Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark.” Are you Marked by Heaven? God’s Signature will preserve you regardless of what the future holds!

Have You Found Treasure in Christ?

What shall we say … that Abraham … hath found?”

Romans 4:1

treasure in Christ

Treasure in Christ is worth more than worldly treasures

This Epistle is one of, if not the fullest statement of Christian theology and faith given to us by Paul or any other writer. It demonstrates the New Testament’s Hebrew roots while spelling out the means of salvation for the Gentile and God’s plan to glorify Himself in the entire world through the work of His Son Jesus.

He traces God’s work all the way back to “the creation of the world” ( 1:20 ).

He shows the choosing of the Jews to be a great “advantage” (3:1)

however, it was squandered through unbelief (3:3) and sinful living ( 3:23 ).

He establishes the guilt of all men before God ( 3:23 ) but holds up a banner of Hope and Grace in declaring “Redemption” ( 3:24 ) freely available through Christ.

Time and space will not permit a full treatment of this comprehensive work here, but it has been described as

The Great Epistle of Theology, The Epistle Written for Every Man, The Church’s Last Testament, The Gospel’s Main Truth and God’s Worldwide Plan for Israel and the Gentiles.” (TPOSB) It is an extremely important book! Of special interest to us today is the fact that Paul described humanity’s need (Both Jew and Gentile) and announced that at least one man, Abraham, had found something of great value. Paul requires the reader at first, to look closely and consider a number of theological details. In doing so, there are three things “Abraham found” that come to light:

  • Blessing

Paul equates the experience of David to Abraham’s and to all who have righteousness imputed to them whether by works or by grace! “Blessed are…they…whose sins are covered” (4: 7) Every Christian believer who is conscious of “SINS FORGIVEN” can identify with this great blessing! And if God will forgive Sin, the question begs to be asked, “What Blessing would He withhold from those He Loves?”

  • Heritage

Abraham had left everything of any value behind when he left Ur of the Chaldees. He spent his entire adult life wondering from one water hole to another looking for a few blades of green grass and a few moments of security in a hostile world! Now it is revealed this tent dweller “Is the Heir of the World!” (4:13-14)

  • Life

Abraham had almost arrived at the end of his earthly journey without a Son or anyone to carry his name or memory into the future. His linage was dead, his dreams were dead, and his hope for the future was dead. Then he had a Great Revelation! “God…gives life to the dead…” ( 4:17 )

These three wonderful things are woven into chapter four. They were found by Abraham, they can be a part of your life by Faith! You too can find Blessing, Heritage and Life!

Paul seems to be caught up in the excitement of Abraham’s discovery but abruptly abandons the theological details to blurt out, “…we have peace…we have access… and rejoice… patience…  hope… the love of God… the Holy Ghost…is given unto us… we shall be saved” (5:1-9)

What a wonderful list of great things Abraham and his descendants in the Faith have found!  What have you found?

  • Peace is available through the Prince of Peace.
  • Access is especially precious to those who know what it means to be excluded or shut out.
  • You can have Joy in a world full of sadness!
  • The NKJV uses the word Perseverance for patience; you can persevere, because the Lord is going to help you!
  • You can have Hope instead of despair.
  • You can know that the Love of God is set on you and the Holy Spirit is in you and you shall be saved!

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus told of a man who “found…a pearl of great price,” (Mt 13:46 ) he sold everything he had to invest in that treasure!

What is FOUND in Christ is worth everything.

Have you “Found” this treasure?

Have you “Invested” your life in this treasure?

Launching Forth With Jesus

“…he went into a ship … And they launched forth.” Luke 8:22

Launching forth with Jesus as he calms the stormThe word translated “launched” means, “to lead up to a higher place.” (Thayer’s Lexicon)  It is the same word translated “led” in Matthew 4:1 which states, “… Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the Devil…” The precarious place in which Jesus is found in Matthew was the result of Heaven’s Leading!

That difficult “wilderness experience” resulted in the Devil’s defeat, the Glory of God and a great example to every believer that the Word of God is key to our personal victory in every situation. Likewise, when Jesus took His disciples into the boat and “Launched forth,” it was the Divine will at work.

1. Pursuing the will of God results in the need of Divine Assistance for progress and perhaps even survival.

An example is furnished by Peter’s experience of walking on the water as recorded in Matthew 29. We have been encouraged by Bible teachers using this incident to have faith, keep our eyes on Jesus, avoid presumption and other equally powerful lessons. Regardless of where the lesson starts, it always brings us to Peter’s cry, “Lord Save Me!”

He had come to a place where no human hand was sufficient to save him. He had arrived at that place when Jesus uttered one word in answer to his inquiry! Peter asked, “…  Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water…” and Jesus reply was simply, “Come.” (Matthew 14:28-29)

Peter was following the voice of Jesus when he found himself in danger of drowning! Perhaps you can identify with Peter. You have diligently tried to follow the voice of God and inexplicably you are drowning! Drowning in sorrow, debt, physical pain, emotional torment etc. Your path has led to a place where there is no alternative but to rely on Him alone!

2. Deliverance comes on a certain day.

“…it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples…”(Luke 8:22 ) I remember a “certain day” my life was changed by an encounter with Christ!

There was nothing uncertain about it! No one had to tell me, I knew I had met God! I remember a “certain day” when the call of God was made clear to me. On that day, no one had to explain anything to me, I knew what to do! I remember a “certain day” when the truth dawned on my mind, since that day it has guided my decisions and shaped my character. Perhaps, you are thinking of a Certain Day when everything changed for you.

a.       That “certain day” brought with it a consciousness of His presence, “…he went into a ship with his disciples…” (v22) There is so little certainty in the life of that person who feels alone in the world and is left to face life’s storms without a friend like Jesus.

b. His disciples have His presence on that certain day, in the ship, during the storm. (v22) The person who insist on charting his own course, or living independently of God’s will is not making a wise choice! Be sure you are His Disciple (follower, learner)!

We know we are His disciples and His business is to save and care for His own and we have cast all our care on Him! But being His Disciple is not about being comfortable as they are about to discover. Because, they had already-

3. Launched forth.

They were being “led” to a “Higher Place .” A HIGHER LEVEL! Many speak of moving up to the Next Level. What did that involve?

a.       Jesus, the only person in the Universe who could help them, went to sleep!

b.      A Storm Came.

c.       The boat filled up with water.

d.      They were in jeopardy.

e.       They were perishing.

f.        Their Beloved Master rebuked them for a Lack of Faith and fear came on them because of His awesome power!

g. When they did arrive on shore it was in a cemetery and they were met by a naked man full of devils and as a result of their ministry the locals invited them to leave!

Could it possibly be that all those things going wrong in your life are really confirmation that you are His disciple, in the boat with him, led by His Spirit and just moving up to the next level?

Come on! Laugh a little today. You know all those things cannot be coincidence! Not that He is the author of them but He has permitted you to travel a path that requires Divine Assistance.

Aren’t you glad you know Jesus is with you in this and every storm?

A Right Relationship With God

Genesis 24: 42-43 “…I came… unto the well… I stand by the well…”

a right relationship with God This chapter of Genesis relates the story of Abraham’s efforts to find a bride for his beloved son Isaac. His own wife Sarah had died and conscious of his own mortality he is trying to do everything he can to steer his son on the right course before his departure. Isaac would inherit the lands and herds but the most important things in life are the relationships. This chapter is full of relationships, parent and child, master and servant, uncle and niece and nephew, siblings, spouses, nurse, grandparents, in laws, etc. The most important relationship is that between God and His people. The Lord blessed, provided guidance and witnessed an oath. The people on the other hand prayed, worshiped, and testified of Divine favor and leading.

What can one expect as a result of a Right Relationship With God?

1.      A right relationship with others. The servant, was Loyal to Abraham. He entered and oath with Abraham to complete his mission and fulfilled that oath (v9). Rudy Giuliani the former mayor of New York City wrote, “Loyalty is the vital virtue.” He was writing about leadership and those who were part of his team after they helped rally the city’s morale following the September eleventh attacks on the Twin Towers . If loyalty is missing, relationships are shallow indeed! One wonders if loyalty is even considered a virtue by today’s society.

The convenient thing is usually embraced and that without justification or excuse! Sadly, the expected thing to do is, “watch out for number one.” From Abraham’s servant comes the lesson that a completed mission requires loyalty to the relationship. From Mayor Giuliani comes the lesson that preventing chaos and the revival of a City in the grip of fear requires virtue. The writers of the Declaration of Independence finished with, “…with a firm reliance on…Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.” Marriages, cities, nations, churches, civilizations are built on relationship and relationships require loyalty.

2.      God will answer prayer. When Abraham’s servant first arrived in Mesopotamia he prayed a specific prayer for the girl God had chosen to be Isaac’s wife. According to the Biblical record, Rebekah was revealed before he finished his prayer! (v15) It is difficult to be anything but optimistic when one lives day to day and moment to moment expecting the answer to be revealed!

3.      Divine Favor. The servant asked for a drink of water (v17) but Rebekah did not stop drawing water until he and all his camels had quenched their thirst! (v20) Later the entire caravan was accommodated at her father’s home where they were received with considerable hospitality and all their needs met. The Bible writer has painted a masterful picture of Favor with this story. The servant is a stranger in a strange land, asking only for a drink and an over abundance is provided!

4.      Divine Assistance. The servant testified to Rebekah’s family that before he left his homeland he had received a promise. “God …will send his angel with thee and prosper thy way…”(v40)  If you are in right relationship with God there is HELP available! His Angels Go before us and camp around us!

5.      Supernatural Refreshment. “ …I came… unto the well…I stand by the well…” What could be more refreshing, more welcome after a journey such as his, than a well? Are you weary? There is a place of Refreshment! The Hebrew word for well is “Ayin.” (Strong’s #5869) The Gesenius Lexicon defines it as, “an eye…a face…a fountain.” The servant said “I came to the well, I stand by the well.” He is telling us there is an all seeing eye that observes our journey and the progress of our mission. He is telling us there is a reassuring face into which we can gaze when the dangers and the difficulties of the journey threaten to push or drag us off course! He is telling us there is a fountain at which we can quench the thirsting of our souls when we are weary, withered and perishing!

“I came” (Strong’s # 935) means exactly that, “to come.”

“I stand” (Strong’s # 5324) means “…to station …”

Make your approach! Take your stand! By the Well!

This is the only place in the universe these wonderful things are available! You can “stand” by many things the world views as a source, but there is only one place where you can stand that will result in right relationships with those around you, where the answer to prayer is revealed,  Divine favor is found, Divine assistance is provided and supernatural refreshment is offered, that is BY THE WELL! Jesus said, “…the water that I shall give … shall be … a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:14)
