What do you do to overcome trials?

There is music playing in the City of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.  Call it revival or at least call it special. It’s a grand concert with over 150 Pastors from local churches actually coming together in unity and meeting monthly in large gatherings. For the past few months, Pastor Jorge, whom I work with has been leading these mass gatherings in the city’s Municipal Auditorium called the Polyforum.

We’ve had some special guests who ministered. Among these were many Christian musicians, Jesse & Laura Rojas, Pastor Bruce Dumond and…  our daughter Cristi.

Yes, Cristi has ministered in the Polyforum playing the guitar and in song a few times.

One evening as she ministered using a soundtrack Cristi had to face a trial – As she was singing, the music stopped.

My question to you is “What do you do when the music stops?”

Today I have some great news and excellent photos to show you.

Although Our Christmas gift giving ministry here in Chiapas, Mexico is still not over we have handed out over 2200 small toys and git packages. Here’s a report:

Pareje Nichen, San Jaun Chamula

San Juan Chamula is the center of a lot of anti-christian conflict.  Many people have tried to minister there but can’t.

We can and did minister less than 10 minutes from the main plaza in the city of San Juan Chamula.

With over 300 kids in attendance we ministered with professional clowns, toys , candies and my daughter Cristi even sang 2 songs with her guitar.

Praise God for 30 or so (older) chamula kids who came to the Lord this day. Special thanks to Pastor Gullermo Jiminez for making this event possible.

Cruz Palenque, Municipio de Salto de Agua

This Chol community is very poor. We minister 3 services in less than 24 hours and handed out lots of gifts as you can see in the photos.

Calvario, Municipio de Sabanilla

Calvario is located in the beautiful mountains near Yajalon Chiapas.

These Chol Indians are very loving and the youth even got involved in ministry here.

Chilon and Chilon San Antonio

This is a very poor area. The people are from the Tzental Indian tribes and the children her are very poor. We shared the riches of Jesus love with them.

Over the past few days we’ve been busy holding crusades in which we are giving small gift packages to need Indian Children.

We ministered with music, clowns, preaching and even cutting hair in these needy places.

This article will mostly include missions photos because a picture can tell a thousand words.

Mitontic, Chiapas

After driving an hour and a half on some pretty rough dirt roads we made it to this Tzotzil Indian comuuntiy tucked away in the mountains.

This community is special because a Catholic Pries and his Congregation all have given their lives over to the Lord. (Catholicism in Mexico is filled with Idolatry and witchcraft so it’s not the same as in the United States). The new believers are still meeting in the Catholic church building only they took out all the graven images.

I was particularly touched as I saw the small children playing soccer with a soccer ball made out of candy. They’d never seen a piece of candy like this and since it was wrapped in paper they didn’t know what it was. Some of the larger kids played with the real ball that we included in their gift package.

We met  in the public park area of the community and had over 600 people attend the event. I preached the crusade and was also touched when an older gentleman, among many gave his life to the Lord.

Tzemembolom, Chenahlo, Chiapas

This place is one of my personal projects since it’s one of the poorest places I visit and also one of the place making the most progess for the Lord.

We met in an adutorium and had 3 Churches attending in addition to the people of the community (around 500 people attended the event)

Although not a christian, the community leader let us use the auditorium at no cost and actually thanked me for  the event once it was finished.

Looking for Christmas gift giving advice?

I’m about to share with you how to beat stress this Holiday season by giving gifts with wisdom and joy….

“It’s the thought that counts”, so here are some helpful thoughts when it comes to gift giving ..

Use Wisdom in Christmas Gift Giving

1. Ask God to give you wisdom as to what to purchase, who to purchase for and how to buy items.

2. Keep in mind how it makes you feel when you receive something you don’t really want or need.

3. Agree as a family to not go overboard in gift giving… Maybe just buy gifts for the children or draw names.

Give Gifts Based On What You Have Available

4. If you have money, share with others by buying items they want or need.

Bonus Christmas giving tip: The Presentation makes a difference.. Don't forget the gift wrapping.

5. If you are lacking in funds, don’t go into debt as a result of your gift giving activities.

6. You don’t have to spend money to give a gift. Your time, efforts, skills, and thoughts are often much more valuable than material gifts.

7. Make it a rule to NOT use a credit card to pay for gifts, this will add up to a large debt very quickly.

Give Gifts With Good Motivations

8. Give gifts because you love and care about someone.

9. Don’t give just to get something in return.

10. Don’t give because you feel “obligated” because someone gave you a gift.

Can’t Think of What Gift to Give?

11. Ask yourself, “What does the person “need”?

12. Give based on the person’s passion, interests or hobby.

13. Don’t be tempted by gag gifts or cheap, unimportant gifts, instead give gifts that mean something and improve peoples life

14. Give based on quality, not cost.

15. Keep your gift giving simple but not generic. Say no to socks, ties and soap on a rope.

16. Try not to become stressed out with holiday gift giving.

17. Remember, Jesus has already given the ultimate gift.. His life! This is a time of joy… not worry.

18. Here’s the Bible’s #1 tip about gift giving …

In Acts 20:35 Paul said ..

we ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

The Bible is full of verses that instruct us to give to the poor..

We know we should give but, often times, we don’t know how to give or who to give to. Here are some tips along with questions to ask before you consider giving to a charity or ministry…

How To Donate To The Poor

19. Give with passion. Are you passionate about the ministry?

20. Give based on relationship. Do you know anything about the person or charity?

21. Give to charities who demonstrate integrity. Does the ministry posses character, honesty and humility?

22. Be a good steward by giving responsibly. Did you check out the organization to find out how they will spend you donations?

23. Ask for a follow-up report. Who was helped, blessed or ministered to? What testimonies can be shared?

24. Get tax benefits by taking advantage of tax deductible donations. Will the ministry offer a tax deductible receipt for your gift?

Give To Our 2011 Christmas Outreach

The Chrsitmas gift  gving season is our favorite time of the year. Each year at this time we give to the poor. 2 years ago we gave out 2500 pairs of shoes. This year we will be giving a special gift package which includes a toy, sanitary items, school supplies and candy to the very poorest children we have found in the Indian communities.

Our goal is to provide a Christmas that the children will remember for years to come by providing hope and joy.

These are children who don’t expect to receive anything for Christmas because their parents can’t afford Christmas presents.

One of these places is located in San Juan Chamula where an entire Catholic church, including the Priest gave their lives to the lord.
When we give these gifts we teach the children about the true meaning of Christmas which can only be found in Jesus Christ..

I wrote the above tips and requirements because that is my criteria for our ministry here in Mexico.

Here in Mexico we have 2 distinct seasons… a dry season and a rainy season. I don’t enjoy the dry season… it’s hot, dusty and desolate.

James 1:5-8 says , “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

We all have KNOWLEDGE directly from the Bible.

Wisdom is when you know how to apply that knowledge to your daily life.
Wisdom is a perquisite to blessings. Solomon could have asked for anything he wanted. He asked God for wisdom. God blessed everything he touched.

When you posses’ wisdom, it will help you take care of financial needs, ministry expansion and everything else you do in life.

Stop reading now and ask God For wisdom.

Make God’s Priorities Your Priorities

Put God First

Put God 1st.  Make His purposes your purpose in life.

Mark 12:30-31
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

Are Your Priorities in Order?

1. Put God First
2. Family
3. Others
4. Ministry
5. Business

Take care of God’s business and He’ll take care of your business.

Don’t let your personal business take priority over God’s business.

Matthew 6:33 says to “Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you”.

Where do you spend the majority of your time, thoughts, efforts and/or money?

Is it on your job or business?

Is it on personal pleasure?

Or is it on promoting God’s Kingdom?

Apply These Keys to Financial Blessing

I’ve spent most of this year ministering on financial freedom since God is definitely interested in our money as much as we are.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Live To Give

How To Give:

Give with the right motivations, because you love God, not just because you want to receive something.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Don’t give out of obligation or to manipulate his promises, God gives to you because he loves you, not because he feels obligated to bless you.

A few more keys to financial blessings:

• Get rid of debt in our lives so we are no longer slaves to no one or no bank.
• Live to give and give to live.
• Be obedient to God when in all areas of giving- this includes tithing (10% is a good beginning), offerings, and first fruits.

Begin by being faithful in the poco (little) and he’ll bless you in the mucho (a lot)!

Be Humble and Honorable

Be Humble and Honorable

Be Yourself, don’t try to imitate Others

Do what God created you to do. Don’t be distracted by others or tangible things that are pleasing to the eyes.

Whose Show is it?
Don’t be like those who create a show to receive honor from men.  Rather… let Christ show through you and your ministry
Be the show of Christ through trust in Him, and reap the harvest of the due season of His faithfulness.

Promote God’s Agenda, Not your Own
Be sincere and promote God’s Kingdom. Minister with integrity. Here in Chiapas, It is refreshing when someone comes who is promoting Gods Kingdom and not there own agenda.

Men are interested in Titles. The only name that’s really important is the name of Jesus.

What is Honor?
Honor can be either offered or received. When it is offered, it is usually a selfless act, else we classify it as flattery. When received, it is a dangerous temptation, for that is when we stand the risk of identifying ourselves with our ego. Honor is the recognition of selflessness.

Clothe yourself with honor-  Honor goes hand in hand with integrity.

Realize There Is a “Dry Season” Before Most Major Blessings

The Time of Silence is Ending

“There is a “Time Of Silence” before any major Blessing.”
That’s what A prosperous Indian Pastor who has a large Church told me when I asked him about success in his life and ministry.

Call it what you want…
I don’t know if I could call it a time of silence…but it does always seem there is a time of slowness where you’re “waiting” on God…
The words, trials, tribulations, and even sowing could also apply to this principle.

A Season For Planting

It seems to relate to the fact that there is always a season for planting where it seems like you’re doing a lot of work…and nothing happens.  And then all of a sudden all your blessings happen at once.

They come in waves for any new breakthrough it seems.

You can find many examples in the Bible (such as Jesus in the desert just before his first major miracle)
Its a period of time when you’ve done everything that  you know is possible in the natural

Having Done Everything… “Stand”

Chapters 5 and 6 of Ephesians talks about when you’ve done everything you KNOW to do,  stand….

Ephesisan 6:14

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Definition : ” Stand”  is to go on living the things in your normal everyday life. It’s Gods sovereign move on our behalf.

There’s also a wonderful poem called “Footprints in the sand “ that basically illustrates that God has not forgotten about us in these silent, difficult times.

Expansion

You’ve heard of building expansions. We often look for “expansion” verses in the Bible when we’re about to go into a Church building program.God wants to give you much more than a building…. He wants to expand your Territory.

I Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

God Wants to Expand Your Territories

An expanded ministry
The time is at the door for your ministry to expand in west and east directions so walk to it and threw it

Greater Anointing
God wants to give you a greater anointing in your ministry. It will usher in a level of walk that you haven’t seen in your ministry until today. An anointing that has been set in motion and comes with great authority and  responsibility.

An increased authority

Is your hair Gray?

God wants to give you gray hair.. Gray hair is a symbol of authority, prestige, honor and respect.
God is ready to move you in a level of ministry It’s a calling of authority. You will experience Gods honor in this calling, It’s a privilege that few men have seen.

New level of respect
It’s yours at hand,  it’s been set  in motion in the heavens and not yet revealed in the realm of visible things .
Stay focused in the next few months and see the goodness of God revealed in your ministry,
People will start seeing you for what you are in Christ.

Receive Multiplication and Blessing From God

Everything that You touch will prosper

God WANTS TO Bless You.

Repeat these words:

“Everything that I touch will prosper. There is an anointing in my life as a child of God. Everything I do or touch will multiply in my behalf. Even others around me will be blessed.”

Receive it by faith. Stand and see the power of His faithfulness and works in your behalf.

Compassion

Have you ever seen a movie or show in which you could rub an Aladdin’s lamp and ask the magic genie for three things?
I would never refer to God as a magic genie but years ago, in the middle of the night, God begin to speak to me (in a non-audible voice).

The Greatest of These is Love

God impressed upon me to ask him for gifts.
What would you ask God for if he told you that he would give you 3 gifts? Here’s what I asked God for.

1. I asked God For Wisdom- If in may lacks it, let him ask.
2. Then I asked him to give me a gift of miracles to help the sick and needy.
3. For the third petition I was going to ask God for an increased anointing to win the lost, but I slightly changed my request and asked him to give me compassion.

I knew that If I asked God to fill me with his love, many would experience healing, salvation and reconciliation through my ministry.

The Greatest of these is love (I Cor 13)

At that moment when I asked God for His compassion for others I began weeping and experienced one of the most powerful presences of God that I’ve ever known in my life.

Compassion should be at the top of our requests if we want to experience God’s blessing in our lives.

What Gifts would you ask God for?  Ask Him now.

Finally, let us love.

Ask God to give you His heart. Loving like God loves cultivates blessings.

I use a wordpress blog which is, in my opinion where the future of web pages are going. You can actually put up a website that looks like a professionally install CMS website in  a small time period.

A WordPress Blog is the way to go for Christians and Ministries because you can update it so easily.

If you didn’t know it, I am  running a small internet business to support our missions activities.  We very seldom itenerate anymore because it is very time consuming. The main reason we visit churches in the USA is to give a report of what is going on. Raising support is not easy and more and more missionaries are being forced to look for additional means to support themselves. In addition, the internet business is an excellent way for me to reach the world with a positive message.

The Tzeltal Indians live about an hour and a half from us in Cancuc Pozo Chiapas. For a long time I have admired the bright colors of their clothing as we have ministered to them providing relevant teachings, evangelistic campaigns and now even a Bible School which started in February.

On February 20^th, we finished a full day of teaching and prepared for a nightly service in the village. The Pastor quietly pulled me aside and told me to go to a small wooden hut located outside of the church building. “A Family has something that they would like to give you” he said.

This was not the first time I had received gifts from the Tzeltal Indians. They’ve given me coffee, handmade bags and even livestock. I was honestly expecting another rooster to add to my ever growing population of chickens at my home in San Cristobal.

Was I ever surprised as the women pulled a beautiful Tzeltal Wardrobe out of a small plastic bag; it was just the right size.

“We want to give you this as a token of our appreciation for faithfully bringing us the Word of God each month” the family explained.

“I thought to myself, “I couldn’t possibly accept such a large gift. I know very well that the Tzeltal Indian wardrobes are very expensive.” In fact, they are worth more than $200. That’s well over a month’s wages when you consider that the average Tzeltal makes less than $30 a week when work is available. Most of the time, the Indians barter crops, animals, coffee and clothing because currency is scarce.

I considered the time involved in making such a beautiful piece of clothing- even longer than a month. I was reluctant to take the gift but I knew that I would offend the family if I didn’t. What’s more, I didn’t want to rob them of a blessing by not allowing them to give.

I accepted the gift.

“We are so thankful that you visit us each month, your ministry has changed our lives” they explained.

What a reward. Their words to me meant so much. I felt honored as I walked away with the wardrobe in hand, thanking God for the privilege to be a missionary to the Tzeltal Indians in Chiapas.

Luke 6:38 states that it is more blessed to give than to receive. I may have received some nice clothing and a pat on back but I feel even more satisfied to be able to share Gods Word with people in need.

The Bible commends us to meditate on the Word of God and Not to worry.

I have always said that we should be experts on meditating on the word of God.

Why?

Because meditating on God’s word is just the oposite of worrying.

Worry is simply meditating or negative things. Playing out the thoughts nad circunstances over and over in our minds.

Mediating on the word of God is picking out a verse and repeating it over and over in our mind. It is a positive experience.

Try meditating on this verse,

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

Stop playing our negative thoughts in your mind.

Never borrow from the future.
If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn’t happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.’

Here’s some more good advice that can help prevent you from worrying.

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Simplify and unclutter your life.
6. Delegate tasks to capable others.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don’t lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can’t do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Eat right.
18. Get enough rest.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don’t wait until it’s time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good ‘Thank you Jesus .’
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33. Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you’re grateful for that you’ve never been grateful for before.

GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

So stop borrowing time from the future. Enjoy life today. Mediate on Good things and stop worrying.
